The popularity from different websites promoting Leptigen certainly had me curious, especially as some sites were offering a free trial (which actually is not free- I’ll explain in a moment) of the product and I was thinking…’what better way to assess whether this product is the real deal before handing over my money’!
But it is important to really do some further digging before you take up any offer- because after all, even if it’s for free, you don’t want to simply put anything into your body without knowing the risks involved- that’s just plain silly.
So, what should you really know about Leptigen? Does it really work or is it just marketing hype? How much weight can you expect to lose per week? Are there any common side effects that you should be vary of? Where is it manufactured? Is it trustworthy?
Let me tip you off right away and tell you that the results from this investigation will surprise you.
How Does Leptigen Claim To Work?
Leptigen is not an appetite suppressant as such, but uses thermogenic and lipolysis-inducing agents to ‘assist your body to release fat and increase metabolism’ in order for you to lose weight.
In essence, it utilizes the theory of thermogenesis. This is a metabolic process that induces the body to burn away calories in order to generate heat. Thermogenesis can be generated naturally through physical exertion, colder environmental temperature or even certain foods or beverages.
What this all boils down to, is that weight loss is a result of calorie burn that is caused by thermogenesis.
What’s Inside Leptigen Tablets
Leptigen comprises of 4 main ingredients. Meratrim®, ChromeMate®, Green Tea extract and Caffeine. The first two are patented ingredients, whilst the latter two have already been known to assist with weight loss and can be found in many other weight loss products.
Let’s have a look at the first two. Meratrim is a made up of two different herbs Sphaeranthus indicus and Garcinia mangostana.
Sphaeranthus indicus (also known as East Globe Indian Thistle) does not currently have any scientific evidence to assist with weight loss yet. It appears that it could assist with reducing cell degeneration and even help with control blood sugar (good news for diabetes sufferers).
Garcinia Mangostana on the other hand, has been widely used to treat abdominal pain, ulcers and diarrhea problems, but by itself, doesn’t have any scientific proof of assisting with weight loss either.
When the two are combined to form Meratrim however, (typically in a combination of 3-1), a study that was funded by the producers of Meratrim, Interhealth, resulted in a number of people that did use Meratrim, lost up to 11 pounds on average over an 8 week period.
The test used 100 people of which half were given a Meratrim tablet and the others were given a placebo (a dummy pill). Each did the same amount of exercise and was calorie controlled over the duration of the test.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find an independent study of the usefulness of Meratrim, so whether you believe a study that was conducted by a company with a vested interest was honest or not- I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
ChromeMate or Chromium Nicotinate as it is also known as, also has had tests conducted to measure its effect on weight loss. Whilst it’s been shown to assist with a range of other health conditions such as helping insulin regulate blood sugar levels for example, less was previously known or proven in terms of reducing weight.
A test conducted in 1987 by Grant K, et al. Chromium and exercise training: effect on obese women. It concluded that there was a definite correlation to test subjects that resulted in a significant reduction in weight- however, it made a specific reference to ‘combined with exercise’, in order to deliver to results.
How To Use Leptigen
The product is very simple to use. Simply take one tablet in the morning with a glass of water and another later in the day.
What you want to note however, in order to get the best results from this product, you will need to take up some exercise (as mentioned above) AND you’ll want to modify your diet for a healthier food selection too.
Yes, although taking two tablets is simple enough, be aware that you are likely to need to change your lifestyle to a healthier option whilst on these tablets- not that that is necessarily a bad thing either!
What Sort Of Results Are Typical?
Similar to Phen Q, this seemed to be largely a grey area unfortunately. There doesn’t seem to be any mention on the official website, nor any other reputable site about what you can expect to lose whilst taking Leptigen.
Given that the methodology behind this weight loss regime is largely made up of the amount of exercise and your diet choices, perhaps it would be difficult to find a numerical figure to quote when using Leptigen.
So this means that effectively there’s no data on what you can expect to reduce each week on this product. That was strike one for me!
Additionally, there seems to be very little feedback from consumers about the success of this product. From the little feedback that exists, it tended to be a mixed- almost equal number of people who said that this product worked well for them, to others who said it did absolutely nothing.
Again, as this product requires you to exercise and diet whilst taking this remedy, I would expect a mixed bag of results, largely to the subjectivity and application of the way consumers will diet and also the amount and type of exercise.
How Long Can Use This Product Safely?
There doesn’t seem to be any credible information either from the manufacturer’s website, nor any other reliable source that discloses whether Leptigen is suitable for a longer term use.
That being the case, I would assume that it may not be designed for longer term use, but this is something that you definitely will want to talk to your health care professional about, for proper advice and trustworthy recommendation.
How Does Cost Compare To Other Alternatives?
As Leptigen requires you to take two pills daily, a monthly supply of the product means you will need 60 pills.
A supply of 60 pills of Leptigen will set you back $109.95 for the month- which is not too bad comparing with similar weight loss tablets such as Phen 375 for example, which makes this look like a bargain!
You may have also noticed that some websites are using some promotional offer where they allow you to try a sample of Lepitgen for free. But, as I alluded to at the start of this Leptigen review, it’s actually not free at all.
According to many others who have fallen victim to this sweet looking trial offer, you will be required to provide your credit card details and you will be charged around $4 (which I presume is for delivery costs).
And, this is what you want to be VERY careful and aware of…There are LOADS of people who have reported that prior to the trial period expiring, their credit cards were automatically charged around $100 for the next month.
Now, here’s where it gets worse. Here’s a summary of what customers have experienced with billing :
- They are told to wait half a month before they quality for a refund and they it could take up to 6 weeks to actually get their money back.
- They are told to wait for the product to get delivered and post it back at the customer’s expense (even though they didn’t order it) before requesting a refund.
- Some customers are only offered 60% refund if they don’t return the product.
- There wasn’t any email confirmation or any other indication when their credit card was used to collect the unexpected $100- customers found out later by reviewed their credit card statement.
In a nutshell, it appears that if you sign up for the trial period, you pay around $4 and what seems to happen, is that within the next 14 days you get charged close to $100 if you don’t ring up and cancel the subscription.
So, if you are considering the trial offer, from what I can gather, you MUST ring up and cancel the subscription within 12-14 days from signing up, NOT from when you receive the product.
To me though, this seems all too complicated and what is supposed to be a free trial, doesn’t appear to be free to test it properly anyway. That’s strike two for me!
Are There Any Common Side Effects
The good news with Leptigen, is that there doesn’t seem to be any major, common problems that people experience when using this product.
Due to the caffeine component, some people may experience insomnia if they take the second pill later in the day- so just like some of the other diet pills that contain caffeine, try to take the second pill earlier in the day and that tends to fix the problem for most people.
There are a small handful of people that have reported small issues such as reflux and feeling depressed, but that could be down to the individual and not enough to call it a typical side effect of using Leptigen.
What We Know About The Company That Produces Leptigen
Interestingly, the company doesn’t actually list any physical address anywhere on its website, which is a little strange.
But after some digging around, I found out that that company’s name is registered to 135 Laguna St, Coral Gables, FL 33146-1442 and is listed as “Green Bracket LLC”.
Here’s the strange thing though. According to the yellow pages, there’s a company by the name of Trit Triton Web Services who is also listed at that same exact location.
So, I don’t really know what to believe. Furthermore, there is no information about the type of manufacturing facilities or standards used when producing this product, nor anything about FDA approvals.
There is a little statement at the bottom saying “trusted name in weight loss since 2008”, but there’s no follow up information or any expansion whatsoever to justify this claim and give me a little more confidence.
For me, this is enough to make this a third strike!
Verdict- Is Leptigen Worth Consideration?
Leptigen could be a good alternative to an appetite suppressant, however, there are so many variables (you must exercise and be on a diet- how much exercise and what diet is not really known) to get this to work successfully.
Although it’s as simple to use and doesn’t appear to have any common reported side effects, there is no real indication of precisely what you can expect in terms of weekly or monthly weight loss- so it appears to be more of a gamble to what’s possible.
Furthermore, there doesn’t appear to be any proper credible information about who actually does manufacture this product, where they are located and their level of experience or expertize in producing a weight loss pill.
With the cost being a little higher and a free trial that seems to have caught out a lot of people who have ended up paying for the bottle anyway, I don’t believe this to be a viable option to me.
There just is too many variables that are unknown with Leptigen- enough so that personally I wouldn’t take a risk to give it a go.
In the end, I went with Phentabz. It costs less, you don’t need major lifestyle changes and it’s produced by a company with over 25 years experience that produces a range of prescription and over the counter remedies. >>Read More About It Here
